TANC March 2015 Events

Tashi Delek!  Here is list of TANC’s events being held in the month of March 2015.  All programs are being held at the TANC community center located at 5200 Huntington Avenue, Suite 200, Richmond, CA 94804, unless otherwise indicated.  TANC board looks forward to your maximum participation in the upcoming events.

What: 7th Tibet Lobby Day

When: March 2-3, 2015,

Where: Washington, DC

On March 2nd and 3rd, 2015, Tibetan-Americans and friends of Tibet are invited to Washington, DC for the Seventh Annual Tibet Lobby Day.  This year, Tenzin Rangdol, General Secretary will represent TANC at the Tibet Lobby Day along with representatives of SFRTYC, and SFT from Northern California.

What: Public Talk by Kungo Kaydor Aukatsang

When: March 8, 2015, Sunday, 5pm

Mr. Kaydor Aukatsang assumed the post of Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the Americas in September 2013.

Before taking up the post, Mr Aukatsang served as a Special Adviser to the Honorable Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay, the democratically elected leader of the Tibetan people.

Prior to that, Mr Aukatsang also served as President of the Tibetan Association of Northern California; Development Director at the Natural Capital Institute; and Philanthropic Adviser with the Tides Foundation.

Mr. Kaydor Aukatsang holds BA degree from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, India, and MA degree in International Business and Politics from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, Boston, USA.

What: SFT’s live Lhakar Series* show amplifying everything banned in Tibet!

When: March 11 2015, Wednesday, 7pm

“For our March broadcast, we have special guests Kalaya’an Mendoza, Field Director of Amnesty International and former SFT Grassroots Coordinator, Migmar Dolma, Vice President of Tibetan National Congress, and Sonam Wangdue, Chairman of US Tibet Committee. The topic of discussion will be March 10, Tibetan National Uprising Day.”

What: Geshe Chapur Rinpoche Talk on Tibetan Calligraphy

When: March 18, 2015, Wednesday, 7pm

Geshe Chaphur was born in Amdo Ngaba in Eastern Tibet. As a young boy he was recognized as the reincarnation of a great master Chaphur Phuntsok Wangyal Rinpoche by His Eminence Bon-Gya Rinpoche and other high lamas.  He received his Geshe degree in 2008 from Menri Monastery, the principal monastery for the Bön tradition, and the home of HH Menri Trizin, the head of the Bön sect and Menri Lopon Rinpoche. While a student he served as president of the Bon School of Dialectics. Geshe Chaphur has broad research interests, but he currently focuses on the poems and songs of realization of the masters of the Oral Tradition of Zhang Zhung.
